In my opinion, people work because we want to develop our personality, contribute to society, and create positive human networks.
To begin with, people work in that we want to develop our personality through jobs. As globalization advances, so does fierce competition. Under such circumstances, workers have to acquire wide variety of skills to survive today’s highly competitive business world. Also we need to learn how to collaborate with each other to complete tasks assigned to us before the deadline. As a result we can make the most of the challenging environment to develop our personality.
In addition, people work because we are happy to contribute to society. As social beings, we depend on positive relations between people. The development of global supply and values chains has reminded us that how we are interconnected and interdependent through our work. Everyone has an important role to play in these global supply and value chains. Therefore, we feel confident that we have helped our societies improve in every aspect.
Finally, people work since we can build positive human networks in the process of carrying out our tasks. During the long careers, we have plenty of chances to meet many people not only domestically but also internationally. This enables us to cultivate informative, inspirational, and productive relationships with others through combined efforts to fulfill common goals. And these mutually beneficial relations are hard to be gained unless we work closely.
It is true that some people have been worn out and frustrated through their jobs in today’s fast changing business world. However, people work because of the three reasons I mentioned above.
