 3. Sample

I support the plan for the building of a new restaurant due to the various benefits for the residents and the community which the new restaurant will yield.

To begin with, the new restaurant will help the residents save time and money to eat out.  Conveniently located within easy walking distance, the residents in the neighborhood don’t need to go all the way to downtown to have lunch or dinner.  Moreover, since operating costs for the restaurant in the neighborhood should be much lower than those restaurants in downtown area, it can serve dishes at reasonable prices for the people in this community.

In addition, this new restaurant will also serve as a place for socialization for the residents in the neighborhood.  Older people might feel reluctant to go to the faraway restaurants, but they are likely to visit the new restaurant because it is near their home and inexpensive.  Also, young families would come to the restaurant to have lunch or dinner with their children, as unlike fancy restaurants which prohibit children entering them, it will allow all family members to enjoy meals regardless of age.

Finally, the opening of the new establishment could stimulate economy in the community.  If the new restaurant proved successful, other businesses would follow.  Although the size of each establishment might be so small, the cumulative effects of their economic activities should help the neighborhood achieve heathy economic growth.  New job opportunities will be created and the tax revenue for the local government will increase.  As a whole, the new restaurant could be a trigger for this positive economic cycle.

It is true that some residents in the neighborhood might think that the influx of people from outside the community is undesirable.  However, I support the opening of the new restaurant due to the three reasons I mentioned above.

To be continued.
